Last reviewed · September 4, 2026Shotlane is built to be clear with a keyboard, assistive technology, and macOS display preferences. This page describes what the app and website support today.
What is supported
- System-provided macOS window controls and familiar control behavior.
- Keyboard navigation, visible focus, and named controls.
- Light, dark, increased-contrast, and reduced-motion preferences.
- Semantic, responsive pages in five supported languages.
Accessibility is part of the release check, and feedback is welcome.
In the Mac app
Shotlane keeps the standard macOS window frame and system window buttons. Key actions use text labels, and icon-only controls include accessible names where custom controls are needed.
The app supports keyboard operation and user-defined global shortcuts with conflict checks. Motion is removed when Reduce Motion is enabled, and key colors become stronger when Increase Contrast is enabled.
Interface appearance can follow the system or stay light or dark. Marketing screenshots use a separate light-only capture mode; that does not change the app preference on your Mac.
On this website
Pages use semantic headings, landmarks, descriptive links, image alternatives, a skip link, and a visible keyboard focus indicator. Navigation and language controls work without a pointer.
Layouts reflow for narrow screens and browser zoom. Motion is minimized when your device requests reduced motion, and the site stays in a high-contrast light presentation for consistent reading.
The page language is updated when you choose English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, or Korean so assistive technologies can use the matching pronunciation rules.
About the Accessibility permission
The macOS permission named Accessibility is separate from the accessibility features described on this page. Shotlane uses that permission only when scrolling capture needs to control and observe the selected scrolling area.
Region, window, and full-display capture do not need this extra permission. You can review or revoke it at any time in System Settings.
Testing and known limits
We review the current app on supported macOS versions and check the website at desktop and mobile widths with keyboard and reduced-motion settings. This statement is a product description, not an external accessibility certification.
Screenshot canvases and live screen overlays are visual by nature. Their commands remain available through named controls and keyboard actions, but the captured pixels themselves may not contain accessible structure.
Report a problem
If a control cannot be reached, understood, or operated with your setup, tell us the Shotlane version, macOS version, assistive technology, and the exact step that failed.
GitHub Issues are public. Remove screenshots, names, file paths, account details, and other private information before posting.
